Legal Assistant

Job Description

Litigation Experience Required.


This is a Full-Time position, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm.


Position Summary:
As a highly organized Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for providing full administrative support for the Company's Legal Department. This position will handle highly confidential and sensitive materials pertaining to litigation and legal matters involving the Company. This individual will work both independently and cooperatively with General Counsel and the Legal Department staff to provide the highest level of service possible to the Company. This position requires a proactive, problem-solving approach to all matters.


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Drafting and proofreading legal correspondence, pleadings, motions, issuing and answering discovery;

  • Drafting and filing post-judgment proceedings, Citations to Discover, Rules to Show Cause;

  • Preparing mechanics lien notices, releases, final waivers;

  • Drafting and filing Annual Reports, memoranda, resolutions, corporate governance documents;

  • Drafting Commercial Real Estate Agreements for lease, purchase and sale; and

  • Preparing and filing Real Estate Tax Appeals.


Administrative Responsibilities:



  • Maintain, record and file all legal documentation;

  • Prepare and timely dispatch certified mailings and emails;

  • Track and ensure that all deadlines are met;

  • Compile tables and reports using Excel for monthly meetings;

  • Manage and be responsible for tasks given by General Counsel; and

  • Facilitate prompt, efficient and professional communication with employees, service providers and business partners.


Qualifications:



  • Relevant litigation experience (5 years minimum) in Corporate, Contract, Collections, Mechanics Liens;

  • Possess a strong command of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel (including pivot tables), Outlook, etc.;

  • Prior research experience with LexisNexis or Westlaw; and

  • Certification as a legal assistant or paralegal preferred.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
